Design and display of Tecno Spark 8T
Techno has Spark 8T Packed in a decent box. The smartphone, transparent cover, charger and charging cable have been well placed in the medium-sized box. Like other brands, Techno is also not offering headphones in the box.
We received the ‘Atlantic Blue’ variant of Tecno Spark 8T for review. The back of the phone follows a balanced design. It has a large square camera module at the top, where along with two back cameras, a flash light and a fingerprint sensor are fitted. After this, the eye looks at the strip given from top to bottom, where the branding of the phone is. It is shown with a matte finish, while the rest of the part has a glossy finish.
The power button and volume rocker are in the center of the device. Opposite it is the SIM tray, in which apart from two SIMs, there is a slot for inserting a microSD card. A single speaker grill, 3.5mm headphone jack and charging port are provided at the bottom, although the charging port is not Type-C.
Tecno Spark 8T has a 6.6 inch IPS LCD screen. It offers Full HD Plus resolution with 1080 x 2408 pixels. The display is of water drop notch style, whose bezels are thin. The display chin is also not thick. This reduces the screen to body ratio and makes the display stand out. We liked the display color contrast. The brightness is also bright. However, the display does not shine that much outdoors and in bright sunlight. Despite this, having Full HD resolution makes it enjoyable while watching videos, movies and light gaming. The sound of the speaker grill is average. One should not expect dual stereo speakers at this price.
Performance and UI of Tecno Spark 8T
Tecno Spark 8T is powered by MediaTek Helio G35 processor. It is equipped with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. Devices like Realme C21, Redmi 9 Active and Oppo A54S also come with this processor. The performance of Tecno Spark 8T is decent. With 4 GB RAM, important tasks like browsing and social media apps are done easily. There was no problem even when opening 5 to 8 windows simultaneously in Chrome browser. Even if 5-6 apps are running in the background, the phone does not get tired. But with heavy usage, some lag definitely occurs. Heavy gaming also cannot be done with this phone. You will be able to play light games like ‘Ludo King’ with fun.
The device runs on Android 11 operating system, which is layered with Tecno’s HiOS custom UI. This is not a device for those who want the feel of pure Android, because the HiOS user interface makes the phone one’s own to a great extent. Small features are also attached to this UI. We also liked some of these. For example, with the help of HiParty feature, multiple devices can be connected together and music can be played. With the help of Audio Share feature, you can send audio to 2-3 Bluetooth devices simultaneously. With the SoPlay feature, you can create your own sound library and create your own music and add it to your recordings.
Tecno Spark 8T battery
As much as Tecno Spark 8T impresses with its battery performance, it is equally disappointing with its charging. The phone has a 5000mAh battery. It lasts for 2 days without getting tired. Even if you are a heavy user, charging will not be required before one and a half day. To charge this big battery, only a 10 watt charger is available. It takes more than two and a half hours to full the battery. Type-C port is the demand of today, but that too is not available in this phone.
How are the cameras of Tecno Spark 8T?
Tecno Spark 8T has a total of three cameras. There is a dual camera setup in the back. The 50 megapixel main sensor given here is the major strength of this phone and its cameras. In AI cam mode the phone takes photos in a resolution of 12 megapixels. This is the resolution set by default in the camera app. For 50MP resolution, ‘Ultra Mode’ option has to be selected. After this, good details emerge in the pictures clicked. We got good colors and contrast in shots taken during the day.
The 50MP camera is supported by an AI lens, which gives good portrait photos. There is also a beauty mode, which will be liked by those people who do not want a single blemish on their face. Features like slow motion, timelapse are also available. This is for those who do more artistry with the camera. The camera struggles a bit in low light environments and there is noise in the pictures. There is also no dedicated night mode. Although a photo can be taken in complete darkness by turning on the camera flash, it is not able to capture the entire environment.
Videos can be recorded up to Full HD resolution, the results of which we found to be average. Tecno Spark 8T has an 8 megapixel selfie camera. It is not great, but average. Good selfies are clicked with beauty mode. In photo mode, the camera takes a picture as you look. There is no pomp and show, which is a good thing. Decent selfies came in portrait mode. On some occasions the camera seemed to struggle a bit with edge detection.
What should you buy Tecno Spark 8T?
Before taking this decision, let us talk about one more feature of the phone. Its fingerprint sensor unlocks the phone quickly. Face unlock is also fast. Priced at Rs 8999, Tecno Spark 8T impresses with its 50MP camera, 5000mAh battery, FHD+ resolution display. The design is decent. The phone is not very heavy either. The device is good for online studies and watching movies and videos. Camera performance is above average. If you want something different from Realme-Xiaomi, then you will like its user interface also. In terms of price, Tecno Spark 8T can be a good deal.
