According to the report, China has so far completed two such landings on the Moon, which are in its far side i.e. remote areas. In the year 2019, Chang’e 4 mission had done this work and now Chang’e 6 mission has landed in the far side of the Moon, which is the dark area. No other country has done this till now.
If everything goes as per plan, Chang’e 6 mission will create history in the coming days. The objective of the mission is to collect samples from the Moon and bring them back to Earth. This will give researchers an opportunity and for the first time, they will be able to see samples of remote areas of the Moon from close range.
This is a robotic mission, which Chinese scientists have worked hard to complete. The mission was launched on 3 May. Its purpose is to bring samples from that part of the Moon, which is always away from the Earth. Just four days after liftoff, the Chang’e 6 mission entered the lunar orbit. For the next few weeks it continued to rotate in orbit and the landing was planned as per the plan. It is being told that it made a soft landing on the lunar surface without any difficulty.
For the next few weeks, the lander will study the lunar landing site and collect about 2 kg of samples which will include dust and stones. Some samples will be taken from the surface, while some samples will be collected from a depth of 2 meters. It is expected that the collected samples will return to Earth by June 25.
