Samsung unveiled its Galaxy J7 Pro and Galaxy J7 Max handsets at an event held in New Delhi on Wednesday. The company’s new G-series smartphones come with Samsung Pay and Samsung Pay Mini respectively which were not a part of the range till now. Apart from mobile payment facility, Samsung Galaxy J7 Max and Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro will be known for premium design, features and specifications. On many parameters, these handsets are capable of challenging even flagship phones.

Samsung’s G-series handsets have been popular so far. The interesting thing is that this series has handsets from every price segment. Handsetes like Galaxy J3 Pro, Galaxy J1 (4G) and Galaxy J2 Pro are available for around Rs 10,000. Whereas Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy J5 (2016) are handsets in the price range of Rs 10,000- Rs 20,000. The Galaxy J7 Max and Galaxy J7 Pro are being marketed towards the “popular mid-segment smartphone market”, which has seen fewer launches in recent times. At the launch event, we got a chance to spend some time with the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max and Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro. How did we like these phones at first glance? Let us tell.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Max and Galaxy J7 Pro design

The new J series smartphones come with full metal unibody design and the profile is also slim. Due to the large display, it is certain that it will not be easy to use them with one hand. This seemed to be the case in the limited time we spent with the handset. The thickness of Samsung Galaxy J7 Max and Galaxy J7 Pro is 8.1 and 7.8 millimeters respectively.

Galaxy J7 Max has Smart Glow feature. It is present around the rear camera. When a notification comes, the smart glow present on the side of the camera will alert you.

Samsung is promoting the flat back camera in the Galaxy J7 Pro. We also like this phone’s new “U” designed antenna band. It enhances the beauty of the handset.

In the new dual SIM handset of J-series, you will get separate slots for microSD card. This is a good feature at this price.

The Galaxy J7 Max and Galaxy J7 Pro have the company’s own skin based on Android Nougat. We have to admit that Samsung has continuously improved the UX since the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6. The number of unwanted apps has reduced. The user interface is quite clean. Like other Samsung phones, you will get Google and Microsoft apps in Galaxy J7 Max and Galaxy J7 Pro. Samsung has made many Nougat features a part of its new UX, such as swiping from bottom to top opens the app drawer.

Samsung Pay and Samsung Pay Mini

The most important feature of the new J-series smartphones is Samsung Pay. In Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro, you will get NFC supported Samsung Pay recently introduced by the company. This South Korean company has also introduced Samsung Pay Mini feature. This is the lite version of Samsung Pay. Galaxy J7 Max will have Samsung Pay Mini which runs on the internet, that is, it will work in online payments. Speaking to Gadgets 360, Sumit Walia, Director, Mobile Business, Samsung India, said that the company will bring the mobile payment option to more devices in the coming days.

It has been launched for handsets like the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max which do not have suitable hardware for Samsung Pay payment service.

At the event, the company representative demonstrated the use of Samsung Pay Mini feature. It was easy to use. After receiving the Galaxy J7 Max, we will also be able to use this feature further.

On the other hand, Samsung Pay supports NFC and MST. For new users, the Samsung Pay and Samsung Pay Mini apps also feature video tutorials on how to use them. This is a good thing.
