8 easy steps to make protein rich moong dal dhokla

Moong dal is rich in protein, fiber, and essential vitamins—making it perfect for a guilt-free, nourishing snack.

Key ingredients

1 cup yellow moong dal (soaked), Ginger & green chili paste, Curd or lemon juice, Eno fruit salt or baking soda, Spices & tempering essentials

Soak and grind

Soak moong dal for 2–3 hours. Blend into a smooth batter with ginger, green chili, and a splash of water.

Let it ferment

Let the batter sit for 1–2 hours for better texture. Just before steaming, mix in Eno or baking soda for fluffiness.

Steam to perfection

Pour the batter into a greased tray and steam for 15–20 minutes. Let cool before cutting into squares.

Add the tadka

Tempering: mustard seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves, green chilies. Pour over dhokla and garnish with coriander & grated coconut (optional).
