The next month people of America will be able to see two attractive astronomical events. It is called a supermoon and one of these will be a rare ‘Blue Moon’. The Moon will be in the semi-fourteen size by 16 August and on 30 August it will appear as a blue moon. It will be seen as full moon for the second time in a month.

On August 1, the sunset in New York, USA will be at 8:13 pm (BST) and the moon will be seen at 9:23 pm (BST). Full Moon will be at its peak at 6:33 pm (BST). The lunar cycle takes about 29.5 days to complete. It changes from full moon to New Moon and back to full moon. Typically, in most months there is only one full moon. It is rare that when the second full moon comes out in the same month. Blue moon is likely to appear once every three years. After seeing the blue moon next month, this view can be seen again only in May 2026.

The supermoon appears when the moon’s orbit brings it closest to the earth during the Phase of Full Moon. It looks something big and bright on the sky at night. This month India launched its Moon Mission Chandrayaan-3 from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. With this, India will become the fourth country to land its spacecraft on the surface of the moon. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has started preparing for the launch of the country’s first Human Space Flight Gaganyaan after the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3. Recently, during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s USA, some agreements related to space were made.

The goal of Chandrayaan-3 is to display the country’s capacity of landing and roving on the surface of the moon. The rover will come out after the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Surface of the Moon and is expected to work on its moon for 14 days. Images can be taken from many cameras on this rover. The director of ISRO, S Somanath said, “If everything goes well then Chandrayaan will land on August 23. The date has been decided on the basis of sunrise on the moon. However, if it is delayed, the landing will have to be kept in September.”
