ISRO has achieved some success in its attempt to once again achieve feat in the world of space. The company tried to dock two satellites under the Space Docking Programme. In which two Indian satellites came closer to each other by 3 meters! After coming so close, now both of them are moving away from each other. Indian Space Agency has given this information.

Actually, this satellite docking program of ISRO was done with the aim of bringing both the satellites closer from 15 meters to 3 meters. ISRO managed to take the satellite closer by 3 meters. Both of them are being brought closer and now being sent to a safe distance. This was part of the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) mission. ISRO said that the attempt to bring both the satellites to 3 meters was successful. Now after data analysis, docking will be tried again. This was ISRO’s third attempt. Even before this, the docking process has been postponed twice.

“At a distance of 15 meters we can see each other clearly. We are just 50 feet apart to shake hands,” ISRO posted on Twitter at 5:17 am on Sunday. At 6:19 am ISRO said that both the satellites are at a distance of 15 meters from each other. They have taken photos and videos of each other. At 7:06 am, ISRO posted on X that both the satellites were brought closer to 15 meters and then to 3 meters.

SpaDeX mission was successfully launched by ISRO on 30 December. The goal of the mission is to demonstrate in-space docking using small spacecraft. For this, PSLV C60 rocket was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. This rocket carried two satellites of 220 kg each.

ISRO says the SpaDeX mission showcases a low-cost technology for docking in space. This is a very important technology for India’s future space missions. It is going to play an important role in the exploration of the Moon and the development of the Indian Space Station (BAS). If successful in the mission, India will become the fourth country in the world to have space docking capability.
