This year itself ‘flagship killer’ OnePlus 2 After launching, now the company has a little affordable handset OnePlus X Launched for Rs 16,999. In the first glimpse, we can say that this is a mini version of OnePlus One. How is the performance of this handset? Let’s know through review.
Look and design
OnePlus X is slightly smaller than both handsets of the company, due to which it seems easier to use. With length and width decreasing, OnePlus X is also more thin. The X handset is attractive in appearance and gives a good feeling in hands due to the curved edge of the metal frame, glass back and glass front.
The handset is available in onics and ceramic color variants. By the way, the price of ceramic color variants is Rs 22,999. It is possible that it is a limited edition device and not much information is available about its availability. We got the onics variant for review. Its metal frame is of gray color.
OnePlus X is made of backpanel glass. The good thing is that the handsom is seen. The top of the handset has camera and flash on the left side.
The frame of OnePlus X is of metal. A lind pattern is present on the entire device. 3.5mm sockets and secondary microphones are placed at the top. On the left side is the notification slider and the speaker grill and USB port at the bottom of the handset. Power and volume buttons are present in the right part of the handset. The SIM tray is also on the right side of the handset.
Let us tell you that after unpacking the review unit, we had problems with power and volume button for the first two hours. The power and volume button of the review unit we got out on their own. However, we fixed it after some time. We cannot say clearly that this will happen with every handset or it is a production flaw.
We liked the feature of the notification slider. This is a three -position switch so that you can decide how many notifications you get. This feature can find many users very useful, by the way it was not much useful for us.
OnePlus X has a 5-inch full-HD AMOLED screen which we liked very much. It is very sharp, detailed and vibrant. It relaxes the eyes and it is easy to read on it even in sunlight.
OnePlus X comes with a protector given by the company. This is a commendable effort, as most people prefer to use protectors on their device’s screen.
Specification and software
OnePlus X 2.3 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon runs on 801 chipset and is integrated for graphics Adreno 330 GPU. Even though chipset is not the most modern, its performance is good. Questions will be raised on the use of the old chipset in the handset released in late 2015, but we are satisfied with the performance of OnePlus X at this price.
OnePlus X 16 GB internal storage comes with dual-sim connectivity, 3 GB of RAM and 2525 mAh battery. Sadly, the device does not support fast charging.
The handset is equipped with the company’s second version of its oxygen OS. There is an option to update OS as soon as the device is connected to the Internet. Let us tell you that the latest oxygen OS is based on Android 5.1.1.
Oxygen OS is very similar to stock Android Lollipop. With this, the user gets an app permission screen through which they can define the permission of each app.
Camera
OnePlus X has a 13 -megapixel primary camera with F/2.2 aperture. It is also accompanied by single-tone flash. The device has an 8 megapixel front camera with F/2.4 aperture. Both cameras can record 1080 pixels videos in the normal mode. Slow-motion videos can also be recorded from the rear camera.
Its camera app has been designed as a Google camera, but there are some differences. You can easily set photos and video resolution.
The camera works fast. It is fantastic in terms of color and lighting reproduction. Shadow and sunlight combination in the outdoor shot was fantastic. Pictures taken in good light and low light in the indoor were also fine. However, the lack of details was clearly visible when viewing the sample shot closely.
Performance
OnePlus X is a good performance. Strong chipset also helps with 3 GB of RAM. Our test videos and games run easily on the device. However, the handset was definitely heated while playing Angry Birds 2 and Dead Trigger 2. It also affected the battery.
The phone’s call quality was good. Connections with Wi-Fi and mobile networks also continued continuously. The voice of the handset makes the sound a bit weak, although the output in the headphones is good.
In our video loop test, OnePlus X’s battery lasted 11 hours 54 minutes. However, in daily use we are not as satisfied with the performance of the battery. The battery will be able to last for a day. The battery does not end much by phone calls and messages, but compared to other devices, the battery ends faster when web browsing and playing games in this handset.
Our decision
OnePlus made a lot of headlines in the world of smartphone in a very short time. The company has introduced such products so far with specification flagship devices, but the price is very low. However, the quality and involvement of the handset have been constantly raised questions. Despite this, the company has managed to attract the attention of the people.
Now talk of OnePlus X. It is a good mid-budget device that gives strong performance with old chipset. Its look is also good and gives a premium feel. However, its build quality is questioned and the performance of the camera lacks details. The negative effect of the device being overheated is seen on its battery. If you are able to achieve invites for the handset, then you will buy a decent phone in terms of performance, look and software.
