Look and design
The 2.5D curved arch display gives a distinct identity to Micromax Canvas 5. Protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 has been given to protect the front panel from scratch. There is nothing special in the handset look that will draw your attention to it. Due to the metal frame, it is a good feeling to hold it in the hands. The 3.5mm headphone socket is at the top and the micro-USB port at the bottom.

Its rear is of texcharged plastic cover that can be removed. By removing it, users will be able to install SIM card and microSD card. However, the battery is completely sealed. The back cover looks very cheap. There is a 13 -megapixel primary camera with LED flash on the rear panel itself.
The display is 5.2 inches and full-HD is IPS panel. It works well in all lighting conditions. The touch response of the display is also good and except direct sunlight works well in the light condition. Above the screen, LED of notification, 5 megapixel camera and LED flash are given. In a way, it can be said that this is a selfie -centered handset.
Overall, the phone build is good. Except the backkavar, it is very slim and weighs 143 grams. It can be said that the design is very effective.
Specification and software
The main specifications of Canvas 5 are not shocking. It has a 1.3 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT 6753 chipset, 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB inbuilt storage, Wi-Fi B/G/N and Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio, GPS and USB OTG. There is also support for microSD card (up to 32 GB). It is a dual sim device.

Performance
Canvas 5 easily plays daily work. There is no problem in using the common app and multitasking. Intensive 3D games such as dead triggers can also be easily played. The phone gets a bit hot around the logo of Micromax, but nothing is troubled. Call quality is quite good.
It took the phone a little longer to fully charge. The score of the benchmark test was average. But you will never be troubled by this handset in common use.
Canvas 5 easily played full-HD video. The experience of watching the video was also fantastic due to the crisp display. The mono rear speaker has a good sound, but it seems a little buried. The headset coming with the handset gives the experience of being cheaper, but the performance is good. Audio quality is very average, so do not expect too much.
The 13-megapixel primary camera surprised us with its performance, especially in day-time macroose and landscape. It takes some time to focus, due to which the photo blur in the burst mode. Landscape photographs lack details, but quality is not bad. The camera is not effective in low light.
Users will be able to record 1080 pixels resolution videos from the rear and front camera. The output is good, but due to lack of video stabilization, it becomes a little shake.
The front camera comes with a fixed focus lens, but it is good to take a selfie.
The 2900 mAh battery lasted 7 hours 12 minutes in our video loop test. It will be considered average. The phone’s battery has gone for a day in common use. We found that the battery level falls rapidly when the camera is used.
Our decision
Micromax Canvas 5 is priced at Rs 11,999. The company has assured this handset to get an update of Android 6.0 Lollipop in future. If seen, this handset presents a strong claim in a price range of Rs 15,000. Display quality, build, camera performance and app performance in daylight, this phone is the biggest feature of this phone. We are not satisfied with the performance of the camera in the time it takes to charge battery performance, the time and low light.
Comparing Canvas 5 in this price range is natural than Xiaomi Mi4I. Looking at the battery life, we will suggest that you buy Xiaomi Mi4i.
