The company after the success of M5 in January Marathon M5 Lite Smartphone launched. In the specification and feature of this smartphone, we see a glimpse of the old M4 except for the new Android version and some new internal features. Is Gionee’s marathon M5 Lite a purchase phone? Today we will review this smartphone of Gionee.
Look and design
When it comes to the beauty of the marathon M5 light smartphone, it is definitely better than the old marathon smartphone. The phone is more thinner than before and it gives a more premium look when it comes in new color. However, the phone is slightly heavy.

This smartphone of Gionee has a 5 -inch HD IPS display and dragged has been used to strengthen it. The screen’s pixel density is 300 PPI, due to which photos and text Bini looks scattered sharp. Gionee has once again disappointed the notification LED and capacitive button by not giving backlight.

The phone has power and volume buttons on the right side, which makes the phone look convenient to hold in hand. But if you hold the phone from the edge, then there is a fear of slipping it, although the phone can be easily caught from the rear. The rear cover of the phone is removable but not a battery. The phone has two micro-SIM slots with 4G support. There is also a separate microSD card slot from which the storage of the phone can be increased to 128 GB.

A charger, USB cable, screen guard, case and some guidelines come together on purchasing Gionee Marathon M5 Lite. The accessory coming with the phone looks quite cheap and this marathon is not as good as accessory coming with M4 and M5. The phone does not support fast charging and the charger of 5 watts coming with it is not right according to the big battery given in it.

Specification and software
Like Gionee’s marathon M5 smartphone, the marathon M5 Lite has a quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor, 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. Given the difference of price of both phones, these specifications can be called good. Apart from this, features like Wi-Fi B/G/N, Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG, FM Radio, Meerakast and GPS are the same in both phones. The phone has a 4000 mAh battery which has been promised to last several days.
The marathon M5 light runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop on which Gionee Emigo 3.1 Skin is given.

The phone has a single layer stock launcher so that transition effects of the icon on the home screen can be customized. It would have been better if Gionee had given any other option other than going to the setting menu to change the wallpaper on the home screen. Quick settings can be accessed from the control center. The Settings app also has a smart gesture feature so that you can just shake the phone without touching and control the media (photos and videos) and web browsing.

Most of the pre-install apps already in the phone can be removed. WPS Office, TouchPal 2015, DU Speed Booster, UC browser and other trial games can be deleted.
Performance
Given the specification of the phone, it is not a shocking thing that most of the things from M5 Lite are easily run. The normal app performance and multitasing in the phone is excellent. The user always has 1.6 GB RAM to use. 4G works properly in the smartphone and the phone is very less hot during simple use.
The phone can be easily played in 3D games like Dead Trigger 2 and Sky Safari 2 without any problem. The phone figures were also excellent in the benchmark test.

Multimedia support of the phone is also good, the phone’s stock video player also plays high quality video file easily. Apart from this, the video player is equipped with DTS audio. The rear mono speaker given in the phone gives a great sharp audio for music and videos. The headset coming with the phone does not provide good audio quality and it does not fit even to wear.

We saw some trouble while taking photos from the phone’s rear camera. The colors become very exaggerated in the close up shot taken from the phone. The photos look good in the phone’s display, but if you zoom on the big screen, the lack of detailing and sharpness can be seen clearly. Different types of photos can be taken from the shooting mode, pro mode given in the camera app. Photographs taken in low light also saw a lack of detailing and autofocus.

A video recording of 1080 pixels can be done from the camera, which cannot be called bad in view of the software of the phone. A good selfie can be taken from the front camera of the phone in good light.
battery life
The most important feature of the marathon series smartphone is the battery life. However, the M5 Light smartphone battery does not run as good as we expected. In our video loop test, the phone battery supported 11 hours for 47 minutes while the battery lasted for one and a half days during normal use. The performance of the battery is good but we expected a better battery life, given the marathon series smartphone. Oppo r7 light In our video loop test of (Review), the 2320 mAh battery lasted far longer.
We were most sad about charging this big battery, which the charger that came with the phone is able to make full charge in about four hours.

Our decision
The marathon M5 Lite with a price of Rs 12,999 is expensive according to its overall performance. If this price gives such a battery life that we will advise to buy the old marathon M4 only. In addition to the look of the phone, hardly any big change can be attracted to your attention.
Except for the slim and better look of the phone and the day -long battery, there is nothing special in the phone. Accessory coming with the phone is also very poor than the previous marathon smartphone.
Gionee recently after M5 Lite in the marathon series M5 mini Also launched. Instead of the huge success of one phone, the company has launched several marathon M5 variants in the market. We feel that the company needs to think afresh and develop good features in smartphones according to the user.
