Prasar Bharti: The country’s public service broadcaster Prasar Bharti is also going to enter the world of OTT. Prasar Bharti is set to enter the over-the-top streaming market. Initially the content will be viewed for free (OTT platform), but there will be a low-cost subscription model for viewing some content. This OTT platform (Prasar Bharati) will be launched at the International Film Festival in Goa on November 20. Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said this on Wednesday.
Sanjay Jaju announced this in a round table meeting with the media at the 16th India Game Developers Conference in Hyderabad. The future plans of Prasar Bharati were also discussed on this day. Organized by the Game Developers Association of India, the meet is held every year from November 13 to November 15 to discuss the country’s gaming infrastructure.
This OTT platform of Prasar Bharti will feature unique content that is completely different from all other platforms. In addition to standard streaming content, the platform will also house an archive of various historical documentaries. There will be rare old photographs, publications, all archival material from Photo Division of India. As a result, viewers will get the content that is not available on other OTT platforms. As a result, Prasar Bharti’s OTT is going to be a ‘game changer’ in India’s digital entertainment ecosystem. Even this OTT will have live channels which will help viewers to watch real time content.
Prasar Bharti’s DD Fresh Dish offers a wide range of entertainment channels for free. This is free satellite service of Prasar Bharti. This time these channels will also be integrated with OTT. More than 60 entertainment channels can be seen through it.
The OTT platform was earlier scheduled to launch on September 15, but it got pushed back. Later, the date was fixed on October 3, but even then the OTT launch was not possible, this time Sanjay Jaju said that this OTT platform is going to be launched on November 20.
