NASA’s Perserence Rover on the red planet Mars is constantly making new new discoveries. Now the rover has found a strange structure on Mars. It is a stone piece that is in the size of the English cap. The photo has been captured by the Mastcam-Z camera on the rover. It is called Sombrero Rock in English i.e. a hat -shaped rock. Rover got this while walking on the margin unit. Scientists have found the size of this cap quite interesting and they have tried to explain the reason behind it.
Regarding this strange structure, scientists say that it is formed during a particular process called Case Hardening in English. In this, the outer layer of a rock becomes hard during a chemical process, and the inner part remains soft. Or it also turns upside down. In such a situation, when the rock goes on wearing gradually, this kind of hollow structure becomes. Scientists say that geological history of this area can also be detected by studying this difference in the outer and inner texture of the rock.
With this sample from margin unit, Rover has run at the next stop in this mission, whose name has been named Jurabi Point. This is the place where three different geological units cut each other. These include the bledor Rich Unit, the upper fan sedimentary rock, and the margin unit. Scientifically, this point is quite important, and has been called Triple Junction. This will help in understanding the geology of Mars further deeply.
