Maruti Suzuki India single-handedly rocked the car market in the month of October. The automobile maker sold 2,06,434 units last month, recording the highest ever monthly sales This is the company’s highest monthly sales ever. This sales rate is almost four percent higher than the 1,99,217 units in October 2023.
During this period, total sales in the domestic market stood at 1,59,591 units. However, it was down 5.03 percent year-on-year compared to 1,68,047 units sold in October 2023. However, this is 10.09 percent higher than the 1,44,962 units sold in September 2024.

Demand for some cars has decreased
Alto and S-Presso saw a drop in demand in the mini segment. Sales fell to 10,687 units from 14,568 units sold in October 2023. Sales of both these models declined from 87,118 units to 74,474 units in FY2023-24.
The compact segment, i.e. Swift and wagons like Baleno, Celerio, Dzire and Ignis saw a decline in demand. Last month sales fell to 65,948 units. 80,662 units were sold in October 2024. Sales stood at 4,32,369 units during April-October this year, which is much lower than the 4,99,591 units sold during the same period last year.
Sales of the Ciaz in the mid-size sedan segment also declined, with sales falling to 659 units last month, as against 695 units in October 2023. By FY 2024-25, sales have come down to 4,800 units, from 8,136 units in the same period last year. Due to this, total passenger vehicle sales declined to 77,294 units in October 2024.
At the same time, van sales declined slightly. It fell to 11,653 units from 12,975 units year-on-year. Whereas it stands at 80,253 units year-on-year. 80,694 units were sold in FY 2023-24.

So which car does Maruti perform better
Note that Maruti has performed well in the utility vehicle segment. Sales of Brezza, Ertiga, Frontex and Grand Vitara as well as Invict, Jimm and X16 rose to 70,644 units last month, compared to 59,147 units sold in October 2023.
The company’s exports have improved tremendously
Demand for Maruti Suzuki cars has also increased outside the country. The company’s exports have also seen a huge improvement in the last month. The company exported 33,168 units of cars last month. Whereas Maruti Suzuki India shipped 21,951 units in the same month in 2023.
