A French doctor sitting on Chinese soil performed a successful surgery on a patient with prostate cancer in Morocco! At that time the geographical distance between the patient and his doctor was 12,000 km!

But how did the doctor operate the patient? According to various reports published in the press, the doctor performed this remote-controlled surgery using a robot made in China!

On November 16, Dr. successfully performed the two-hour surgery. Younes Ahallal. He was just 100 milliseconds late in completing the entire process.

According to Chinese news agency Xinhua, the operation set a new record, according to the ’roundtrip transmission’ distance rule. Because, according to this calculation, the distance between the two parties exchanging messages during the operation (the sum of the combined distances of the message going and the reply coming back) exceeds 30,000 km! As such, it is the world’s longest (in terms of distance) remote controlled surgery to date.

The Chinese news agency also claimed that the surgery was performed with the help of a state-of-the-art Toumai robot. The feature of this robot is that it can maintain control over the surgical instruments in real time with absolute accuracy and deliver high-quality images and videos of the surgery to the concerned doctor immediately.

Note that last October, a surgery was performed between Shanghai and Cotonou, Benin with the help of the Toumai robot. A cyst in the renal duct of a patient in the service was surgically removed. In that case the round trip transmission distance was 27,000 km.

In the case of this surgery, as the French doctor was sitting in the city of Shanghai, China, in the Asian continent, according to the instructions, the machine arm or ‘robotic arm’ kept in the operation theater of the African continent was operating on the patient!

According to the concerned authorities, the patient’s prostate tumor was successfully removed from his body in this process. And then precisely the patient’s vascular-nerve bundle is preserved and the wound is sutured while maintaining the length of his urethra!

The concerned doctor told the media that they did not use any 5G service during this operation. Instead took the help of a better broadband. As a result – as long as the surgery was in progress, there was no problem getting video footage of that surgery in real time.
