Infinix Zero 30 5G was launched on Saturday. The smartphone falls in the sub-Rs 30,000 category. Many stalwarts have entered this segment in the last few months, including models from Realme, Motorola and OnePlus. Now, Infinix has brought Zero 30 5G with the intention of having a strong presence in this segment. The smartphone comes with a very premium design, which includes vegan leather (glass option also available) rear panel, slim build, thin bezels and curved display. Along with the design, Infinix has included a powerful hardware set, which includes MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chipset with 14 5G bands, up to 12GB physical (expandable up to 9GB) RAM, 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, IP rating, 68W charging support. The starting price of Infinix Zero 30 5G in India is Rs 23,999. I have the Rome Green color variant of the smartphone, which comes with vegan leather, and after spending some time with it, here are my initial impressions of the phone.

Any device attracts your attention with its design and Infinix Zero 30 5G does the same. As I mentioned, I have the vegan leather variant, which comes in a color called Rome Green. What first caught my attention was its rear panel, which featured a large rectangular golden-coloured camera module on grainy textured vegan leather. The plate made of polycarbonate with a metal finish includes two large and one small camera rings as well as an LED flash. The dots on the four corners of the module look like screws. It would not be wrong to say that Infinix has designed the phone very minutely, in which small elements are working to give a good look to the phone.

The frame of the Zero 30 5G is also golden in color and made of polycarbonate, with a metal plate fabricated at the top to give it a flat look. It has a curved display and the rear panel has also been bent towards the frame from both the sides, which not only gives a good look to the phone but also looks quite slim. The thickness of Zero 30 is 7.9 mm.

Thin and uniform bezels are found around the display. There is a speaker grill, a Type-C port, and a microphone at the bottom of the frame. At the top, a secondary speaker grill is provided for stereo sound and a secondary microphone for noise cancellation. The volume rockers and power button are fitted on the right side of the frame and were easy to reach. The selfie camera is placed in the hole-punch cutout present at the top center of the display. The fingerprint sensor is present inside the display, which was quite fast and accurate. Overall, I found the design of Infinix Zero 30 5G quite attractive compared to the competition in this segment and undoubtedly the company has left no stone unturned in giving it a premium look.

Infinix Zero 30 5G has a 6.78-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display, which supports refresh rate up to 144Hz. Gorilla Glass 5 protection is available on the display and rear panel (only for the glass back variant). The refresh rate can be set to 60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz. There is also an auto adjust option, which adjusts the refresh rate according to the content playing on the screen. Due to this, everything from scrolling to transitions feels quite smooth. The display of Zero 30 5G is quite crisp and vivid and the colors appear quite punchy.

The display supports a peak brightness of 950 nits. I also used the phone outdoors and it was quite bright. The content on the display was readable even in direct sunlight. If you still find the brightness low, it has a ‘High Brightness Mode’, which works to increase the brightness a little more in strong lighting conditions. The display supports Widevine L1 and is TUV Rhineland certified.

Infinix Zero 30 5G comes with MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC. It was introduced in April this year. It is an octa-core processor built on 6nm process, which is a capable chipset for casual workload as well as gaming. During a very short period of usage, I found that the phone handled social media browsing, content streaming and a few minutes of gaming very comfortably. RAM management was also good. However, in the coming days we will put this smartphone through all our tests. The phone comes with 8GB and 12GB RAM options and both variants have 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The RAM can also be virtually expanded up to 9GB using storage. It also includes OTG support.

The Zero 30 5G gets a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 108-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HM6 primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS) support. Apart from this, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens with 120 degree FOV and a 2-megapixel depth sensor are provided. A quad LED flash light is also included in the setup. The company claims that the main sensor also supports 3x Lossless zoom. A 108MP camera mode is also included in the camera app, which captures photos in full resolution. During my initial use, I took some photos with the phone in daylight and found that all the photos were Instagram ready.

As claimed by Infinix, one USP of the Zero 30 5G is its front camera equipped with a 50-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor. The camera is capable of recording videos at 4K @60fps and comes with 4 in 1 pixel binning. It also has a dual LED flash in the front, which is hidden behind the top bezels.

The Zero 30 5G packs a 5,000mAh battery with PD 3.0 certified 68W fast charging (charger available in the box). In initial usage, this battery lasted me a whole day comfortably. However, you will have to wait for our review to see how well this battery holds up under heavy usage as well as how much time it takes to fully charge it.

Talking about software, Zero 30 5G runs on Android 13-based XOS 13. On first boot I noticed very little bloatware. There were some preloaded apps that could be uninstalled.

Talking about some other features, the phone comes with dual stereo speakers, DTS Sound and HiRes Audio support. It also has NFC support along with WiFi 6.

We will put Infinix Zero 30 5G through all the necessary tests of Gadgets 360 in the coming days. Stay connected with us to read the full review.
