A picture of half frozen Pangong Tso lake located in Ladakh, India has come to light. The special thing is that this photo was taken from 400 kilometers above the earth. It has been captured from the International Space Station (ISS), which is a joint project of many countries including America and keeps revolving around our Earth. A team of astronauts is always present on Isis and completes space missions by staying there. Whenever the ISS passes over a country, it takes memorable pictures of that place, which the American space agency shares on its social media handles.

Pangong Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world. Its elevation is 4,225 meters above sea level. According to reports, this lake extends to the borders of India and China. Despite being at such a height, it is not a freshwater lake, but a saltwater lake. In winter the lake freezes completely and a marathon is organized on it.

The specialty of this lake is that it keeps changing its color according to the season. Describing the photo, NASA Earth wrote that ‘A photo of Pangong Lake taken from the International Space Station. In the picture, the water of the lake appears to be green in color, while the snow also appears to be in all light colors.

According to NASA, this image was captured by someone from the crew of Expedition 70. It is reported that the image was taken with a Nikon D5 digital camera on January 25, 2024. However, social media users are liking the picture. People are associating it with the beauty of winter. Although the picture is a few months old, it can be assumed that the lake will no longer be frozen.
