Like other Vivo phones, the most important feature of this handset is the front camera. This time the company has given dual camera setup for selfie lovers. Let us tell you that before the official launch we had spent some time with this handset. Let us tell you how we liked Vivo V5 Plus in the first glimpse.
Vivo V5 Plus design and display
As soon as you hold Vivo V5 Plus in your hands, you will realize that its design is heavily inspired by the iPhone 7. However, it is not bad. Overall, the build quality of Vivo V5 Plus is good and it feels premium. Due to its thin frame, there is no problem in using it with one hand. The dimensions of the smartphone are 152.8×74.00×7.26 millimeters and weight is 158.6 grams.
The primary camera of Vivo V5 Plus is on the top left side of the rear. The power and volume buttons are present on the right side. Vivo V5 Plus also has a home button fingerprint sensor. During our time with the handset, we found that the sensor responded well and was accurate too. Speaker grill is present in the lower part. With this you will get micro-USB port and 3.5 mm audio jack.
Vivo V5 Plus has a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. After spending time with the smartphone, we would call its quality satisfactory.
Vivo V5 Plus Camera
The most important feature of Vivo V5 Plus is the dual front cameras. You will get an 8 megapixel sensor along with 20 megapixels. Sony IMX376 1/2.78 inch sensor has been used in the 20 megapixel camera. Its aperture is F/2.0. At the same time, the 8 megapixel sensor will capture depth of field information.
With the help of this pair of cameras, users will be able to take selfies with Bokeh effect. We got a glimpse of this technology in iPhone 7 Plus. Users can change the area of focus even after taking the shot. We found the camera setup of Vivo V5 Plus to be very capable. However, face beautification and HDR mode do not improve the photo quality much.
Vivo V5 Plus has a 16-megapixel camera on the rear. We found the photos taken with this camera to be fine, there was nothing unusual in them. The camera performance was not that good especially in low light conditions. However, we have spent limited time with this handset. In such a situation, the final decision on the performance of the camera will be reserved for review.
Vivo V5 Plus Software
Vivo V5 Plus smartphone runs on Funtouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It has a 2 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset with 4 GB RAM. Like the hardware design, you will get a glimpse of iPhone in the software also. During our time with the V5 Plus, we had no complaints with its performance.
The inbuilt storage of Vivo V5 Plus is 64 GB. The battery is 3055 mAh and it supports quick charging. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS. The speaker of Vivo V5 Plus produces loud sound, but we were not satisfied with its quality.
Vivo V5 Plus will be available only in Gold color in India. In this price range, the handset will compete with OnePlus 3T and Moto Z Play. By the way, Vivo V5 Plus has a weaker processor than OnePlus 3T. And like the Moto Z Play, there is no mods support. In such a situation, it will not be easy for the company to attract customers just on the basis of dual front camera. Well, we would suggest you to wait for the review of Vivo V5 Plus.
