At the launch event of OnePlus 3T, OnePlus India General Manager Vikas Aggarwal informed Gadgets 360 that OnePlus 3 sales will continue, but the focus will gradually shift to OnePlus 3T. We spent some time with the OnePlus 3T at the launch event. How did we like this phone at first glance? Let us tell you.
Talking about design, we praised OnePlus 3 a lot. This time the company has used anodized aluminium. At the same time, the sandstone rear that has become the company’s identity since OnePlus One has also been removed. The good thing is that OnePlus 3T is similar to its older variant in terms of design and looks. The new gunmetal color reminds us of HTC’s new metal body flagships. OnePlus 3T feels solid. At 158 grams, the OnePlus 3T feels light. Its dimensions and weight have not been changed.
OnePlus 3T has a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with a pixel density of 401 ppi. The company has used an AMOLED panel which has the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The display is bright. Color reproduction is also satisfactory. Viewing angles are also good. And there is no problem in seeing on the mobile phone in outside light.
OnePlus 3T runs on OxygenOS based on Android Marshmallow. This means you’ll be able to enjoy Android’s updated app permissions system, Now on Tap, and Doze Mode features. At the event, the company said that OxygenOS has been further improved in OnePlus 3T. Due to it being a launch event, we couldn’t test the user interface of OnePlus 3T in detail. We will write about this in the review of the handset.
The highlight of the OnePlus 3T is the upgraded quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. Its two cores will give a maximum clock speed of 1.6 GHz and the remaining two cores will give a maximum clock speed of 2.3 GHz. It has integrated Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The phone has 6 GB RAM. Recall that the OnePlus 3 handset comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 829 chipset and Adreno 530 graphics. In the limited time we spent with the OnePlus 3T, we found it to be fast. There was no problem even during multitasking. However, it will be possible to get details about the performance only during the review.

Another upgrade in the OnePlus 3T is in the front camera. The new smartphone has a 16-megapixel front camera with Samsung 3P8SP sensor. We took good selfies in suitable lighting at the event venue. Performance was good even in low light. The photos came with a lot of detail. Like OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T has a 16-megapixel front camera. It has Sony IMX298 sensor and 4K video recording is possible. At the event, the company claimed that the new OnePlus 3T comes with sapphire glass in the rear lens. We also took some pictures from the rear camera. There was less noise in indoor lighting. We will be able to tell more about it during the review.
The OnePlus 3T has a 3400 mAh battery, while the OnePlus 3 smartphone comes with a 3000 mAh battery. After increasing the battery capacity, OnePlus 3T is now capable of challenging Google Pixel XL and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
