The company then launched new models, but could not repeat the appeal with original handset. Every time for some reason or the other, we could not praise the efforts of HTC wholeheartedly. Last year, HTC One (M8) was defeated due to unsatisfactory duo camera features and the rest of the variants could not become a praise character due to look and design.
HTC surprised everyone and introduced one M9+ in India before the One (M9) smartphone. Its screen is large, the processor is different, the fingerprint sensor and also the Duo camera feature, which was not included in the M9. If seen in this way, it is not necessary that this handset is better or worse than M9. We are also curious to know how the performance of this smartphone is.
Look and design
It was expected that we would see a handset like HTC One Max, which was excessive than necessary and had a plastic version of the original one, but it became clear that HTC had learned from its mistakes. One M9 +’s body is of metal and has a premium to-tone finish. It is available in gray, gold and silver-gold color and we found a unique silver-gold version for reviews.
Sadly, HTC has not used unibody style of its old handset. The M9+ appears in appearance as if someone has combined two different parts together. Where the front and rear parts are found, there is a rej, on which we cannot stop ourselves from turning fingers. The front of the review handset was perfectly dull silver, while in the back, there is brushed silver and gold color was used in side parts. We cannot say that we liked this look, but it is different, it is very showy. The remaining two variants are expected to be more popular.
The black glass in the front goes to the edge, but the screen is smaller than it because the black border remains at the end of the handset. HTC’s trademark boomsound speakers are made up and down. The front facing camera itself installs itself.
On one side of the phone is the Nano-Sim slot while on the other side there is a microSD card slot. Power and volume buttons are built on the right side. One is already all the buttons below normal, but HTC has placed the power button at the bottom for some reason. Its location is in a place where your thumb is not normally not or near the location around it, it is very annoying. Despite being a minor texture, we were repeatedly pressing the volume button. The good thing is that you can use fingerprint sensor to activate the phone with sleep mode. However, its placement is also very low.
Micro USB and 3.5mm audio ports are made at the bottom. Drark plastic strip has been used in the top, it is just a place in the entire phone where plastic has been used. This place is made a place for infrared emitter and antenna, so that the metal body can be communicated. There is nothing worth mentioning except two cameras and dual LED flash in the back of the phone.
HTC One M9+ is slightly strange to catch and the weight of 168 grams seems slightly unbeaten. Being curvy proves to be helpful, and at least it does not slip with hands like other phones. However, the phones are slightly more sharp. Pulling the thumb to reach the edge of the phone was a bit unconfirmed, there was a similar problem during the phone.
Specifications and software
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC used in One M9 has been used by HTC in M9+ MediaTek processor. The device has Helio X10 processor, it is also known as MT6795T. It has eight Arm Cortex-A53 core based on the 64-BIT Armv8 Instruction Set and integrated with it is Powervr G6200 GPU.
The diagonal edge of the screen is 5.2 inches in length and one m9 has a spectacular resolution of 1440x2560pixels in this handset as compared to 1080×1920 resolution of one M9’s 5 -inch screen. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage, which can be increased to 2TB via microSD card. However, as long as you use the phone, there is little hope of such a large capacity SD card to enter the market. Support is also available for USB-TG in the phone.
The phone also has support for dual-band Wi-Fi B/G/N/AC, Bluetooth 4.1, Infrared, NFC, GPS and FM radio. The 4G LTE also works on the 2300MHz band used in India. Creative 3D with 20 megapixel rear cameras is a suitable sensor for 3D effects, icing on the cake.
Ultrapixel sensor has returned to the front part. One thing that is not impressive is the battery of this phone, which has a simple 2840mAh capacity. The new version of HTC’s Sense UI has been used above Android 5.0.2 operating system. This does not look very different from the previous year’s version, but an attempt has been made to do something new, such as the themes app and more customization options. HTC has also integrated the alert about the suggestions of the location related app, Blinkfeed news items and events and deals. The phone has Scribble, Polaris Office 5, Peel Smart Remote, FUN FIT and many HTC apps, none of which are very disturbing.
Performance
We used HTC One M9+ for a long time but could not succeed in getting addicted to the fingerprint sensor. Its placement is strange and if your fingers are arrowed then it does not work properly. And we habitually kept trying to go to it, like it was a home button. The good thing is that HTC realized that this would happen, so in the active mode of the phone, the sensor has been mapped from the home.
The screen is good and crisp too. The color reproduction of the screen is excellent and the viewing angles are well, but it has a reflection problem. We did not have trouble running a video clip of 1080p, but we were eyeing the experience of boomsound. Like our predetermined handset One Max, there was a very loud voice from One M9+, we did not hear a loud voice in any smartphone. This speaker gave a great output from classical to electronic dance music number. The voice is a little thin and the distortion is clearly visible on the fastest volume, yet the performance of the handset in this case is much better than other phones.
One M9+ gave very good results in the benchmark test. Got 51,670 points in AnTuTu and 27,401 points in Quadrant Test, these results made it clear that the new processor of MediaTek is equal to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor used in Motorola Google Nexus 6.
However, the scores of the graphics were quite weak. The 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited Test featured 12,300 figures, which is about half of the results of the Nexus 6. Apart from this, the result of 8,549 in the Ice Storm Extreme Test is equal to the results of the old phone of this price range.
We did not have any probalm during normal use, but we found that the phone became quite hot when the benchmarks and HD videos were pressurized. This happened for some time continuously on using the camera. The quality of phone calls was good, but the battery life was very disappointing. The battery lasted 5 hours 33 minutes in the video loop test. We expected that during normal use, the battery would run at least one day.
Camera
We were excited about how the performance of Duo camera setup and front ultrapexal camera would be, and is HTC found the correct formula after many years of use? The camera app gives you the option to switch between duo mode and high-raise mode, while the Duo mode uses another sensor to capture the additional depth information for high-raise mode.
If we are clearly stated, we could not use the duo camera feature. One M9+ after taking a photo, gives you the option to change its focus point, through this you can blur the four of the photo or background. Apart from this, the camera app has interesting features like Faux 3D Shift Effect, Double Exposure, Shape and Pattern Overlage and two faces blowing face fusion. We got bad results in the use of every feature and some were of no use.
High-rage mode also did not affect us much. In the 20 -megapixel resolution, One M9+ took average photos, there was a lot of compression in these photos. It was nice to see pictures taken from the camera in the daylight, but the deficiencies started appearing on transfer to the desktop monitor. As expected, the pictures taken in low light were even worse. In these pictures, a lot of noise and subject defense were also wrong. Despite the 1080p default recording, the output of the video was disappointing.
Our decision
HTC One M9+ has difficult challenges, especially from the Chinese phone that gives such specifications at half the price. The look of the phone will force people to turn around once and it gives a very solid feeling, but regrettably, this handset is not very good in any one feature. For example, Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6 will then beat this phone in almost every department. Nexus 6 and Motorola Moto Turbo are good options and also a low price OnePlus One.
HTC One M9+ looks good, but its appeal for us ends here. We were hoping that HTC would come out of its experimental phase and present a great handset, but it was not to happen. If the look is not the most important issue for you, then you have many more options.
