Well-known astrophysicist and satellite tracker Jonathan McDowell claims that the piece of space debris was the orbital module of China’s Shenzhou 15 spacecraft. Three astronauts were sent to space aboard that spacecraft in November 2022.

According to reports, the Shenzhou Orbital Module weighs approximately 3,300 pounds (1500 kg). Because of this, astronauts get extra space in space, so that they can complete their science experiments. However, this module is not designed to return to Earth. This is the reason that after some time the module entered the Earth’s atmosphere and burnt up.
People who saw the space junk first thought it was part of the SpaceX mission. About 6 hours before the incident, SpaceX had launched 22 Starlink internet satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. It was later claimed that the piece of space junk was the orbital module of ‘Shenzhou 15’, which suddenly crashed while entering the Earth’s atmosphere.
There has been no response from China yet regarding this space junk. America has been criticizing China regarding space junk. The US Space Agency alleges that China is not serious about its space missions because it does not plan to dispose of space junk.
