This surgery matters a lot because it has now opened the doors of transplant of organs between animals and humans.
Brain dead person calls a person in which no consciousness is left in mind. Such a person is legally declared dead because they cannot breathe without any support. That is, their breathing depends with the help of machines. Therefore, the body of such persons is donated several times for the experiments of science.
According to the report, more than 1 lakh people in the US are waiting for transplant. There are 88,000 people who need someone’s kidney. In such a situation, the success of a boar kidney in a human being can be said to be a big achievement. Robert Montgomery, director of New York University Langon Transplant Institute, said that he has learned a lot during this surgery and has brought new hope for the future.
The pig’s kidney used for this was brought from Virginia -based biotech company Revicor. These pigs are born here under the natural process, not cloning. Earlier in 1984, a heart was transplanted to a newborn. But he was able to live alive for only 20 days.
Currently doctors are paying more attention to pigs because science believes that the organs of pigs can prove to be more effective for humans. Their size, the ability to grow quickly etc. make them worth it. For the first time in January 2022, the heart of a boar was transplanted into a human being at the University of Maryland Medical School. The person was able to live alive for two months. He died after that.
