of ndtv Report Mission project scientist Bob Pappalardo told AFP that one of the fundamental questions NASA wants to understand is whether we are alone in this universe. If we have to find favorable conditions for life and someday we actually discover life on a place like Europa, then it would be said that Earth and Europa are two examples of life in our solar system.
This will also make it easier to understand how easy it is for life to exist throughout the universe. However, the $5 billion Clipper Probe is currently present at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Nasa JPL) in California. Only selected people are allowed to go to the place where the probe is kept.
The Clipper will be launched on the Falcon Heavy rocket of Elon Musk’s company SpaceX. Scientists estimate that Clipper will take 5 years to reach the orbit of Jupiter and Europa. After that he will start studying Europa. It is believed that there is a large amount of icy water present in Europa.
To explore the icy waters of Europa, instruments like cameras, spectrometers, magnetometers and a radar have been installed in the clipper. They can enter the ice so that along with the liquid water, it can be found out how thick the ice is present there.
