Solar Flare: It seems that the ongoing activities in the Sun have reached their peak. On Tuesday, another powerful storm full of energetic particles emerged from the Sun. Because of this, the most powerful solar flare of the current solar cycle is moving towards Earth. According to the report of Live Science, this solar flare is of X8.7 category, which is more powerful than the flare that hit our planet last week. There is a possibility that due to this flare there may be a radio blackout on Earth. Its effect may be visible in some parts of the world, especially America.

The US agency National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says that due to the latest flare, no geomagnetic storm or aurora will be visible on Earth.

It’s all the result of a sunspot named AR3664. Solar flares have been emanating from it for the past several days. On May 10, a solar flare of X5.8 category was emitted from this sunspot. On Tuesday, 3 X category solar flares came out one after the other from this sunspot. Among these, X8.7 is the most powerful. It is said that no flare more powerful than this has occurred in the Sun’s 11-year solar cycle.

American space agency NASA has already said that there is a possibility of frequent solar explosions in the Sun. These explosions will continue till the year 2025. Due to this, satellites and astronauts may be affected. This is Solar Cycle 25, which started in December 2019.

what are solar flares

Solar flares are created by the light and particles emitted when the Sun releases magnetic energy. These flares are the most powerful explosions ever seen in our solar system, releasing energy and yielding an impact comparable to billions of hydrogen bombs.
