If you are planning to buy a new Android smartphone this year, then be prepared for the ‘notch’ being offered these days. Actually, on the lines of Apple iPhone Even in Android P, users will see different types of display cut-outs. Vivo V9 It was the first Android smartphone launched in India, which had a notch. Oppo with notch F7 Launched in India for Rs 21,990. This phone will soon replace Oppo F5 and other F series smartphones. F7 comes equipped with real time HDR capability with the feature of 25 megapixels. Apart from this, second gen AI beauty and AR stickers are also present in it.

We spent some time with the new Oppo F7 at the launch event held in Mumbai. Let us know how we liked this mid-range smartphone at first glance…

Oppo F7 with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage is available in bright Solar Red and Moonlight Silver color variants. Both the color variants have a back panel at the back. Glass is not provided. The rest of the body is plastic and the finish is better. To know whether scratches would occur or not, we tried making some marks with the SIM removal pin. We found that if the phone is kept in a bag that has any sharp objects in it, the phone may get scratched and damaged. Especially when you have not kept the phone in the cover. The phone feels light. The display has a black border, which makes it stand out from the rest of the phone.

Talking about the screen, Oppo F7 has a 6.23 inch display with 19:9 aspect ratio. It is also Full HD Plus. Additionally, the user gets a screen guard already installed on the phone. The brightness levels are good and the viewing angles are not bad either. However, we have to see how effective the phone’s display is in open sunlight. It does not have a notification LED, as this feature is being provided in most phones. It has a cut for the front camera and earphones. The button replacement is better but we were a little disappointed to see a micro-USB port. Considering the price of the phone, we couldn’t understand why it was given this price.

We got only a single camera at the back, which does not allow us to feel the lack of a dual camera. Despite this, the front and rear cameras of the phone support portrait mode. MediaTek Helio P60 octa core processor has been used in Oppo F7. The user will be given 64 GB storage with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage with 6 GB RAM. Let us tell you that the edition with more storage will be available in Solar Red color. At the same time, Diamond Black color option has been kept for 4 GB and 6 GB variants. The Diamond Black version is designed to give a diamond cut effect. However, this is a ‘move’ by the company that will definitely appeal to many people. In terms of design, it’s reminiscent of HTC, which experimented with 3D surfaces with the HTC Diamond.

Within a short time, we got our hands on the 4GB and 6GB versions of the handset. Both were working fast. ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo looks good. However, we cannot say that we liked the feel and look of the app icon. With a toggle switch, notifications can be easily viewed by swiping up. Screen recording is provided with the OS itself. Whenever you are watching a video or playing a game in landscape mode, you can easily do things like screen recording and mute notifications by swiping left.

The most important aspect of the handset is the front camera, regarding which the company says that many AI features have been included in the new camera app. The real time HDR feature is working fine but after giving the command to the shutter button it gives a slight delay. The new AI Beauty 2.0 claims to recognize 296 facial recognition points. Besides, the neck and shoulders also remain in its sight. Like other phones, the back camera has been equipped with more megapixels. It has a wide aperture F/1.8, due to which the company also promises better photography in low light.

We didn’t spend too much time with the Oppo F7 but it seems to have tried to offer a better phone than the Vivo V9 at Rs 1,000 less. Among the three colors, we liked silver and black better. Oppo has patented many types of notches, so it is possible that different types of designs can be seen in the upcoming Oppo smartphones.

We will review Oppo F7 in detail soon. Stay tuned to Gadgets 360 Hindi. We will also tell you how much better it is than Vivo V9?
