Kolkata: As time goes by the influence of summer in India is increasing. And with that the maximum summer temperature is also increasing. As a result, buying an AC has almost become an urgent need for people. There are many people who think twice before buying AC. And that’s the only reason, the income of those people is very high. As a result, because of the price of the AC, they wonder why the AC will work or not. Buying a good AC costs a lot of money. Apart from this there is electricity bill. That too has to be paid to that person. As a result a person thinks many times before buying an AC. Is it okay to buy AC? Or spend this summer without AC.
There are also many people who think of buying an air cooler instead of buying an AC. Because the price of air cooler is low and the electricity consumption of air cooler is also very low. But AC or air cooler? Do you know exactly why you should?
First of all, there is a difference between AC and air cooler in the way they work. Air coolers generally use water or steam based evaporative cooling technology. That is, the air cooler lowers the temperature by evaporating the water. But this thing works very well in dry heat. On the other hand, what does the air conditioner do? Air conditioners reduce both the temperature and humidity of the room through compressors and refrigerant gases. As a result, if the house is closed, in that case, AC is effective in the closed room. And if you want to keep the open space or an open place, where the air is moving, cool, then the air cooler is very good.
You also need to look at how much you want to reduce the temperature. If you want to keep your room temperature between 16 degree to 24 degree Celsius then AC can do that. The air cooler can reduce the temperature up to 5 degrees or 10 degrees from the ambient temperature. If the humidity of the air increases, but the air cooler cannot reduce the temperature so much. That is, if the summer is dry, then the air cooler reduces the temperature by 5 or 10 degrees. Otherwise AC plays a functional role.
Now if you calculate in terms of electricity consumption, then the air cooler may consume 100 to 200 watts of electricity in the whole month. There may be 1000 to 2000 watts or more electric consumption in AC. As a result, an air cooler may cost you five hundred to eight hundred rupees in extra electricity bills every month. If there is AC, this additional amount of money can easily exceed 5 thousand or 6 thousand rupees.
Besides, there is another thing, the price. The price of an air cooler usually ranges from 7,000 or 8,000 taka to 15,000 taka. And if there is an offer, then maybe you got even less. Apart from this, air coolers are cheaper from another day. It also requires no installation. But if you want to buy AC then maybe you will spend at least 25 thousand rupees. Now this price may increase depending on how many tons of AC you are taking or whether your AC is 3 star or 5 star or inverter AC. If your house is big and if you want to reduce electricity consumption in the future, then you need to buy a larger ton AC and buy a five star or inverter AC. And if this is the case, the price of AC will also increase. AC also has installation cost and maintenance cost.
Next comes moisture. A cooler but increases the humidity in the room. And that’s why coolers are very effective in dry regions like Delhi or Rajasthan in North India. But if you live in a city like Kolkata, Mumbai or Chennai, where you sweat a lot when you go out on the streets, i.e. a humid climate, the cooler doesn’t work very well. AC is required in such places. Because AC dries the air and prevents perspiration and also cools the indoor climate.
So don’t buy AC buy cooler it doesn’t just depend on your pocket or your capacity. Take into account where you live, how much cooling you want, how much you can afford, and then decide. Buy AC this summer or buy a cooler?
